Every month Grateful Shed Antler Chews will have a drawing of one of our clients names. We will then donate money and have a tree planted in your name and your dogs name, by the Arbor Day Foundation or Friends Of Trees. You will receive an acknowledgment card in the mail in your name! We all know how much dogs love trees. Maybe even more than us! You just can’t have enough trees! They have benefits that help the environment like moderating climate, improving air quality, conserving water, and harboring wildlife. Leaves filter the air we breathe by removing dust and other particles. Rain then washes the pollutants to the ground. Leaves absorb carbon dioxide from the air to form carbohydrates that are used in the plants structure and function. In this process, leaves also absorb other air pollutants – such as ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide – and they give off oxygen!
Trees have great economic benefits as well! Air-conditioning costs are lower in a tree-shaded home. Heating costs are reduced when a home has a windbreak. Trees also increase in value from the time they are planted to the time they are mature. Trees are a wise investment of funds because landscaped homes are more valuable than non-landscaped homes. Did you know that over the course of 50 years a single mature tree can generate $31,250 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of erosion! We like trees around us because they make life more pleasant and each one is a miracle for our planet! We will do our part and plant a tree for every name that’s drawn.
